Three people were killed after vehicles in the motorcade of the Deputy Prime Minister of Namibia crashed head-on into another vehicle on the road between Oshivelo and Tsumeb.
The acting Commander of the Namibian Police in the Oshikoto Region, Deputy Commissioner Shigweda, confirmed the fatal motor vehicle accident and said that Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah survived the incident.
“The Deputy Prime Minister was taken to a Tsumeb Hospital in a stable condition where she is still being cared for. She will, however, be taken to a Windhoek hospital in an air ambulance later this evening.”
Shigweda confirmed that three people died on the scene of the accident, but was not willing to say if more people were injured. He said details of the incident will be made available at a later stage.
