Approximately 100 people have been injured this morning following a collision between a train, truck and light motor vehicle between Hennenman and Kroonstad in the Free State.
Provincial Fire and Medical services were the first to arrive on the scene, finding that several carriages were lying on the side. A fire had broken out in one of the carriages and had begun to spread.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, began to evacuate the train and assess the patients while Fire Services began to battle the blaze.
Upon assessment, paramedics found that approximately 100 patients had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
The patients are currently being treated on scene and will be transported to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.
Initial reports show that no fatalities have been found on the scene.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
