Three suspects aged 36, 38 and 51 years respectively were this morning, 2017/12/21, arrested at Wolmaransstad for alleged kidnapping, robbery and impersonating a police official.

The arrests came after the suspects allegedly robbed a Director of Phokwane Municipality at Hartswater earlier this month.

It is alleged that the three who are from Gauteng Province, came to the victim in Hartswater and told him that they are Intelligence police from Head Office, investigating him. The victim was further directed to bring along all banking documents as he has to go with them to their offices in Pretoria. When they reached Klerksdorp the victim was told to withdraw an undisclosed amount of money and was left there.

Today members of Hartswater Crime Intelligence Unit received information that a business man in Jan Kempdorp was also taken through the same modus operadi and the vehicle was used. They immediately requested Wolmaransstad and Klerksdorp police to be on the lookout for this vehicle.

The three were arrested at Wolmaransstad before they could take anything from the victim.

One of the suspects is a police member and two firearms of which one is a service pistol were found in possession of the suspects. They are all expected to appear before court soon.

Members of the community are cautioned to be careful of these unscrupulous people. Never leave or go anywhere with anyone whom you do not know.
