A few days after the fatal train crash in the Free State in which 18 people died, a second accident occurred near Germiston.
More than 200 passengers were injured when two Metro Rail trains collided at the Geldenhuys station in Germiston.
According to emergency services, 163 passengers suffered moderate injuries while 52 suffered minor injuries.
The accident occurred when a train crashed into another train from the back.
It has already been found that the Germiston accident was the result of a “human error” when two trains were allowed to enter the same line due to signals that appeared to be out of order.
