KwaZulu-Natal: Six Suspects arrested for possession of drugs in Chatsworth
Today, members of the Provincial Drug Unit were following up information with regards to suspects who were busy packaging drugs in a flat at Silver Heights Drive, Westcliff, Chatsworth. Upon arrival at the scene, there were occupants inside the house and capsules were found on the floor. The premises was searched and clear packets of heroin were found in the bedroom. A search was also conducted in the kitchen, packets of capsules with heroin powder and a measuring scale were found hidden under the sink. A total of five suspects were placed under arrest.
Whilst the members were busy conducting their investigation another suspect was arrested outside the premises after he was found in possession of heroin. All the arrested suspects aged between 16 and 52, will appear in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on charges of dealing in drugs and manufacturing of drugs. The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R100 000-00.
“This arrest sends a clear message to drug dealers and drug manufacturers that police in the province are determined to rooting-out the proliferation of drugs in our communities. These operations are continuing in KZN province as part of the Safer Festive Season Operations,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa
